The Battledome Is Closed (April Fools 2007)

TGO
The Following was TNT's 2007 April Fools Joke (this included the closing of the Battledome, Battledome Chat, all Weapon shops AND the Hidden Tower)

--------------------

The Battledome Is Closed

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we've had to permanently shut down the Battledome and its associated activities. Obviously, this is not something we wanted to do, and as much as we'd like to fully explain, we aren't allowed to comment at this time. We'll just leave it at that for now.

We know there are many, many Neopians who have worked very, very hard and spent countless Neopoints to train their Neopets for the Battledome. We would like to thank you for participating in past wars and events, and for keeping Neopia safe via Defenders of Neopia. Please know that we haven't forgotten you. We are currently working on new activities that will put these stats to use. Your efforts will NOT be wasted.

We have also been ordered to remove certain Battledome weapons from the site. We realise there are many Neopoints invested there, as well, so instead of simply deleting them from everyone's account, we're putting together a Battledome weapon exchange program. We're still working out the details, but we hope to allow everyone to trade in their weapons for another item of equal or lesser rarity. We will have this ready by Wednesday to comply with the agreement.

We're sorry for the short notice, and for not having alternatives ready for you now, but it was unavoidable. We're working as fast as we can and we think the new stuff will be quite cool. We hope to have everything else up by mid October!

- The Neopets Team

Rater Test Grading has Been Completed....

VermontHermit
I'd like to thank all of you who applied to become an IDB Rater. The field was MUCH better than I expected it to be, and we simply had more good applicants than we could forward on to the third (interview stage). This site has a great number of people who have battledome knowledge and ability, not all of whom are on staff, and unfortunately at this time, not all of whom are advancing on the process to become staff.
I know you may be thinking, yeah right, that's what they're supposed to say. I'll give you a couple of things to think about to hopefully assure you of my sincere intent in what I've said. 33% of players who applied with IDB ratings of 2,000 didn't advance. 33% of players with IDB ratings of 1,500 didn't advance. 50% of non-rater IDB staff taking the test didn't advance. There are people who didn't advance to the third stage who could be raters, and who are qualified to do so. Maybe another group of graders would have picked the order slightly differently. We did the best we could, I think we were prompt and thorough. I think every name that we advanced has real potential.
For those who didn't advance, I hope you'll continue to learn, to grow in your expertise, to be active in the forums and help share that knowledge. We'll have openings again in the future, and by all means apply.
At this point, EVERYONE who submitted a test has been sent a PM from me indicating their position. If for some reason you submitted and haven't gotten one, PM me, and I'll respond to you. There were hours and hours of time put in on the tests, some not in your first language, and I thought you all deserved as personal an update as time allowed for your efforts. I'd also like to thank those who were notified earlier today that they were advancing for NOT posting such as requested.
And finally, I'd like to thank the people who did the test grading. We finished up around 4a.m. this morning and the last cuts were made in the last hour. Graphitesmoothie, Kagemucha, Q77 and I were the original committee doing grading and I'd like to thank the other three for their efforts and putting up with my nagging and asking for third and fourth gradings on the tests. And I'd like to thank Cranberry, who wasn't on the original committee, but who I drafted in to help and who did a massive amount of work. We didn't want you all to be waiting forever, and I think the turnaround time was exceptional for an undertaking like this. Thanks also to all the other IDBers, Phoenix, Forte, Stimulatus and anyone else I'm forgetting who added comments or helped on grading.
Good luck to all who advanced as you get ready for the interview stage, and thank you and good luck to those of you didn't as well. Keep at it, and we'll hope to see you apply again in the future. lance

IDB Rater Applications - Phase Two OVER

graphitesmoothie
Hey all,
Despite my 78961 errors in the past couple days, phase two of the IDB Rater Applications, our BD quiz, has been due. If you haven't sent in your responses, you're out of luck. Once we are done sorting through and grading the quizzes, we will get back to you on the results along with whether or not you have made it to the third phase. Good luck. :P

graphitesmoothie @ Mar 26, 2007 04:01 AM

When good typos...go bad?

graphitesmoothie
Hello again all. Just a correction for the rater applicants:
It appears in my anger haste, I killed Padme accidentally put Sunday March 24, 2007 as the due date. As was pointed out by djeanmi on the forums, that day doesn't exist, because I meant March 25.

So, Sunday, March 25, 2007 is the actual due date. Thanks for dealing with my incompetency. :P

Rater Applications are OPEN!!!

Forte
Good news, everyone! Rater Applications are finally open! IDB is looking for knowledgeable, helpful, friendly staff that are willing to be active and openly participate in making IDB a better place. If you think you might quit Neopets soon, or don't want to work hard, you should probably not apply. We want serious people to apply, so please consider how serious you will be when applying. There are certain requirements that you must meet. When applying, you will post in this thread the following items:

Name of pet you are applying with
Forum Account Name

You will also need to give us some information. These are the requirements to become an IDB Rater. IF YOU DO NOT MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS, DO NOT APPLY! Please, don't waste your time and ours if you know you aren't what we are looking for. There will be no negotiation on these requirements; if you do not meet them, you can apply next time. Please review these statistics and be prepared to submit them:

Combined IDB Ranking: 300 or more. (Strength + Defense + Hit Points)

500 total battles with 1 pet. (combined wins and losses)
War points from any war or the Tale of Woe Plot (if you use the ToW plot, you must have battled, we WILL check); Altador Plot and Lost Desert Plot (the second, not the first) do not count; war points from older wars preferred.

The final round is an interview process with current IDB Raters in order to test your knowledge, skills, and abilities. Sign-ups will close Sunday, March 18th, at 11:59 PM Eastern Daylight Time. No applications will be accepted after this point.

If you have any questions or comments, please do not PM me or any of the staff. Please post in the thread linked here and your questions will be answered as soon as possible.

Again, thank you for your interest, and we hope to see you soon on our staff list :) - Note: Anyone is welcome to join the forums, they aren't solely for applications.

Updating Weapon Origins

Kage
As some of you may have noticed, many weapons on IDB have no data under "Origin". How's anyone going to know where these weapons come/came from?

IDB needs your help in finding out all of this data. If you know the origin of a weapon that does not currently have any info under that subject, it would help us a lot if you could post the information on our forums.

Refer to this topic for more information:
