Well, for the price, I guess it`s not entirely abhorrent, but you can do a lot better with just a slight amount more time via the Jade Staff. This doesn`t really merit use unless you're in some sort of rush to battle, but more likely than not, this will make you lose more than you win.

Power (0/4) 6 total combined icons, and species only.

Price (0/2) Even at just a few hundred NP, this is a rip-off.

Tactical (1/3) The icon combo is decent, but there aren`t enough icons to really matter. On the plus side, this does break even against Scarab Ring.

Another Angle (0/1) They clearly mean `ancient` in a bad way here.

Alternatives: If you like the dark/light combo, consider Cobrall in a Can or Scroll of Dark Nova. If you want a dark-defense dual duty, go for Jade Staff or Golden Geraptiku Talisman

Upgrades: Ramtors Spellbook is a much better light and dark weapon. Ice Dagger, Wand of the Moon and Golden Compass are much better dark defense dual duties.

Defenses/Countermeasures: Most of the dark defense options I listed above will beat this, as will any weapon at all which deals 6.1 or more icons.

It IS cheap. But for barely anything more you could get a radioactive snow which defends more. Also, scarab ring is much better, for only about 3-5k.

If you only have 350 nps though, this would be a good buy. but if that were the case, try playing volcano run or something.

A fair weapon, the dark defense could prove to be very useful and it's attack icon types are nice, sadly, it does only 4 of them.

Low level JubJub owners could find this useful because it's very cheap, but you'll probably outgrow this in a short time and soon will be able to buy other weapons that could do more for you than this one.
