This is one of the cheapest yet most awesome weapons around.

Back in the day (haha, that makes me feel old), 6 icon weapons without any defence were multiple times the price of this.

In the present, Scarab Ring only costs...not even 2k? And wait, what? It blocks 6 icons in addition to 6 icons of damage? x_x

What's that graphite? If you don't buy one of these as a poor battler you'll do what to me? Stalk me? ;-;

Translation: If you're a poor battler, get this or I will haunt you with my words. :P

This is indeed a great little weapon, although not as -great- as most of the others think.

The defense is the only part I like about the weapon. It takes large chunks out of numerous weapons used at both the beginner and intermediate levels, and is capable of beating most of them head-to-head. What I don`t care for though is the attack. Being three sets of two, it is far too easy to block... by pretty much any defensive weapon or dual-duty that I can think of. And since when has anyone been afraid of 6, easy to block icons?

This fares much better in 1P battles, where the types don`t matter. In 2P, you can expect seeing dual of these quite often, so prepare your defenses accordingly.

For new battlers, one or two of these are an economical cornerstone for your battledome set. Experienced battlers can rely upon it as a third or fourth offensive choice. Unfortunately, this weapon is useful enough to be fairly common and, therefore, predictable in certain levels of 2-player battling. This is simply devastating against some 1-player challengers.

I keep referring people to this weapon, yet I've never even rated it. For such a low price, 6 icons is great, but the added defense is what really makes this shine. There's a physical element to almost every low level weapon used, so this ties or beats even some 9-iconers. The biggest disadvantage is that everyone you fight will be expecting this.

Power (1/4) 12 total icons, which is the very top of my scale for a 1 power rating

Price (2/ 2) This costs a tiny fraction of what many worthwhile dual duty and defensive weapons with fewer total icons do

Tactical Use (3 / 3) You currently cannot beat a Scarab Ring without buying a more expensive weapon to do so, yet the Scarab Ring comes out even or better against roughly half of all common weapons from Obsidian Dagger all the way up to Sword of Apocalypse and Garoo Elite Blaster. I honestly cannot list all the weapons this beats here, just do an advanced search for weapons which deal 2+ physical and 2+ fire and notice how many have less than 6 icons left over when you subtract the defense of the scarab ring.

Another Angle (1/1) I was mocked on the BDC for claiming this was good when these were first released. I guess that was back in the age before defense was understood. Be aware that this is not so awesome if you are have not trained defense.

Alternatives: Nothing is this cost effective and few weapons are this tactically overpowering.

Upgrades: Aside from pure shields, the cheapest weapon to offer more total offensive + defensive icons is Dusty Magic Broom. The next upgrade for fire and physical defense is Faerie Tabard

Defenses/Countermeasures: Jade Staff is the most economical weapon which beats this in head to head.

Was, still, and will continue to be one of the best, if not THE best weapon for a new battler (unless TNT tries to be funny again :P). Good-looks, fine balance and supreme price... more than enough reasons for it to be placed among the top of the top, best of the best weapons in Neopia.

This is a MUST for new and poor battlers. Its got a constant 6 icons which isn't too bad and defence. Best of all is that this is really cheap. Its price is what makes it worth getting. Anyone can afford these.

Possibly the most price-efficient weapon ever made, this is far more powerful than any of the previous "starting" weapons ever were. A required purchase for all beginning or on-a-budget battlers.

Perhaps one of the most advantageous weapons in Neopia. This scarab is a dual-duty weapon, and it blocks common icons physical and fire. If you relate the price of this weapon to its purposefulness, you'll find that this weapon is beneficial to your weapon set and to your budget. This weapon may seem extraordinary, however, its attack is easily blocked by Virtupets X-514 Super Shield and other shields.

Probably the best all-around multi-use weapon per np in the game. One of the rare weapons that make you ask "How Can I Afford NOT to Have One" (or two);) It's an excellent beginner's weapon, but is probably in over it's head as a #1 or #2 weapon for an intermediate fighter. This DOESN'T mean that intermediate's shouldn't have and use one however, just that its usage should be more situational. For the current pre-war price of 2,400 nps or so, it defuses so many 1-3 million np weapons for so little. Among a loooooong list of items it does a draw or better against, head-to-head, with even stats, are the Garoo Elite Blaster, Fire and Ice Blade, Iron Lupe Sword, Fire Hammer, Lava Arrow, Fiery Spine of Death, Mystical Teapot of Doom and even the famed Balthazar Claw. And obviously there are many cheaper, common weapons it trumps as well. Loses some utility if you don't train defense of course, but the question remains, for 2,400 nps, how can you afford NOT to have one?:O
