This is probably one of the most overrated weapons in the game.

If you are using or fighting against 8 icon weapons it could be decent with a few weapons that do fire, earth and physical - but if you only have 8 icon weapons you should probably be upgrading your main constants with 100-150K anyways.

For 9 icon weapons the icons that this block are not even that useful. It does reduce stone club to 3 icons, but barely does anything against Golden Compass, Pike Pike, Pesilas Fighting Fan, ect. And in order to be useful against those weapons it would need to block icons from multiple different weapons - but the icons that it does block in this range are pretty much always physical, which would quickly be saturated.

YBlaster is probably the most often cited reason for using this shield - but even then it only blocks 8.6/12.6 icons from the shield. If 2 YBlasters were used against this and a 13 iconer, the 2 YBlasters would come out ahead easily

One of the few pure shields in the game worth considering. It partially plugs the holes in both Sink and Burrow Faerie Abilities, and partially in the Ghostkershield gap as well. The total 14-icon defensive effort is useful for early to intermediate battlers who have trained their defense, and the wide range of icons means that you'll almost always be getting some utility out of using it. The drawback is the price, which as of this writing has dropped down to 150,000 nps, which is semi-affordable, but too much in comparison to other decent pure defenders like the Patched Magic Hat. However, the lower the price goes, the more interesting this becomes.

Power (2/ 4) 14 Defensive icons, that?s a lot of defense for an icon-based shield.

Price (1/ 2) Now down to only about 3-5x the cost of similar buyable shields. At r95, I suspect this will eventually fall to buyable, or just above buyable but that will likely take another year or so

Tactical Use ( 2/ 3) Defensively strong enough to partially block many weapons, but doesn?t fully block too many of the currently common ones. Still, if you have a defense advantage this does a number on Sword Of Apocalypse and Werelupe Claw Necklace. A drawback is that the icon types overlap with many of the worthwhile dual duties at this price level.

Another Angle (1/1) You can build a viable battle set themed around hats.

Alternatives/Upgrades: Leaf Shield and Patched Magic Hat aren't far behind this and can be had for a fraction of the cost. For much more NP the Yooyuball Keepers Chest Guard offers full physical blocking.

Defenses/Countermeasures: This defense can be avoided by using weapons which attack with Light, Air and/or Water icons, such as Tooth of Terrask, Pike Pike and Steaming Skeem Potion

Defends like a Scarab Ring and Mask of Coltzan combo. But does`t attack. Though the combo I mentioned is far more expensive, it is a combo worth its salt investing in. This shield is not, at least not at its current price. A shame really, based on power alone I would have rated it higher...

This is a pretty neat defender. 4 different kinds of icons is not too common in defence items. Earth is always good to have in in a defence item as it is overly common in attack weapons. This also kills a big part of many very popular weapons. From scarab ring to Stone Club.

This item tends to be a little uncommon and the price reflects that. It loses many points because of this. If ever the price goes down to a reasonable amount then get this right away!

This nice little shield defends against some of the most common icon types, making it useful against many popular weapons -- for example, it reduces the Stone Club to a 3-iconer and the Bow of Destiny to a 5-iconer, and completely kills the Tyrannian Lupe Tooth. It is comparable in power to Patched Magic Hat and Leaf Shield, albeit rarer and therefore more expensive.
