Power (1/4) 8 offensive Icons

Price (2/2) UPDATE 2JUNE09 Now under 6k, making this far and away the cheapest 8 iconer on the market. I'm unsure why or if that price will last, but for now, it's a steal!

Tactical (1/3) Fairly easy to block with common low end defenses

Another Angle (1/1) Buy while it's cheap.

Alternatives: Battle Ready Pencil Box is the one-icon-fewer downgrade with the same types. Other cheap 8 iconers you should be looking at include Steaming Skeem Potion, or Gold Handled Katana

Upgrades: Tyrannian Lupe Tooth, Psellias Fighting Fan, Ice Club, Stone Club, Pike Pike, Essence of Esopahgor, and Golden Compass all deal more damage.

Defenses/Countermeasures: Easy to outdamage with 9 icon weapons, Scarab Ring comes out one icon ahead, Patched Magic Hat completely blocks this.

This isn`t great, and at the moment is overpriced, but unlike most of the new items, it isn`t totally useless. Gets a couple of icons by Burrow and three by sink, is equal, head-to-head, balanced pet with the Scarab Ring, which overall is still a better weapon at 1/50 the cost, and isn't totally neutralized by Leaf Shield. For beginners only, but if the price comes down, if could be helpful, though it will be quickly outgrown.
